　現代医療の中で薬物治療はますます重要性を増している。医薬品は病気の治療上有効でなければならないが，同時に安全であることも求められている。そこで，より良き医薬品を創り（創薬），育てる（育薬）ことが重要となるが，創薬と育薬のためには，医薬品の有効性と安全性を，さらには真の有用性を，臨床試験により科学的に評価する必要がある。医療の質を高め，確実性の高い治療を実践するためには，治験を含む臨床試験のプロセスが必須である。今後，我が国に「臨床試験のこころ」を有する医師が数多く育ち，また臨床研究コーディネーター（CRC）をはじめとす る多くの創薬育薬医療スタッフが充実し，信頼できるエビデンスを作るための基盤整備が必要である。本講座は，我が国の医学部 で初めての「創薬育薬医療コミュニケーション講座」であり，学問としての「創薬育薬医学（Pharmaceutical Medicine）」の確立 を目指し，創造性とコミュニケーション能力に優れて，国際的な視野に立った臨床試験のできる医師及び創薬育薬医療スタッフを 育成するためのセミナーやワークショップをオンサイトオンデマンドベースで開催している。

　The significance of drug therapy is of growing importance in the medical services of our own time. Drugs must be therapeutically effective but they are required to be safe at the same time. In this respect, development (Sohyaku) and fostering (Ikuyaku) of good drugs become increasingly important but for development and fostering, the drugs' efficacy, safety and their authentic benefits must be scientifically evaluated through clinical trials. In order to increase the quality of medical services and to practice reliable medical services, we firmly believe that the processes of clinical trials including clinical trials of investigational drugs are mandatory. From this point onward, for the sake of bringing up physicians with "heart for clinical trials", and reinforcing many staffs, including clinical research coordinators (CRC), that support development and fostering of good drugs, the infrastructural development that leads to the creation of reliable evidences is absolutely necessary. This Department of Pharmaceutical Medicine and Communication is the first of its kind in the Japanese university medical faculty and its objectives are to establish and to consolidate Pharmaceutical Medicine as part of higher learning and to organize and host seminars and workshops on on-site-on-demand basis designed to train and bring up physicians and Sohyaku/ Ikuyaku medical staffs with good creativity and high communication skills, capable of performing clinical trials on multilateral and international standpoints.
