感染症の病原体，媒介動物および伝播に関する研究
病原体，特に再興・新興人体寄生虫および人獣共通寄生虫の研究， 吸血昆虫の分類，生態，制御および病原体媒介能に関する研究， さらに節足動物媒介性疾患の感染動態に影響する自然環境因子の 研究などを分子レベルから野外における集団レベルまで様々な視 点から行っている。

1. 節足動物媒介性疾患の伝播に関する研究

   (A) Speciation and biogeography of black flies (Diptera: Simuliidae) in Asian and South Pacific regions
   (B) Molecular population genetics of vector mosquitoes of dengue fever and malaria
