　教室で扱っている疾患は，呼吸器・縦隔疾患，食道を主とする消化管疾患，乳腺・内分泌疾患であり，それらに基づく研究テーマは以下のごとくである。
Ａ）呼吸器・縦隔疾患

１）癌の遺伝子・染色体異常の解析
２）組織における遺伝子異常，増殖因子，サイトカインの発現と予後との解析
３）肺癌におけるセンチネルリンパ管の同定，微小転移に関する分子生物学的研究
４）呼吸機能に基づいた術後合併症の臨床的検討
５）胸膜リンパ管の超微形態とリンパ排導路について（癌のリンパ行性転移の解明を目指して）

Ｂ）食道を主とする消化管疾患

１）癌の遺伝子・染色体異常の解析
２）組織における遺伝子異常，増殖因子，サイトカインの発現と予後との解析

Ｃ）乳腺・内分泌疾患

１）癌の遺伝子・染色体異常の解析
２）組織における遺伝子異常，増殖因子，サイトカインの発現と予後との解析
３）動物モデルを用いた発癌と遺伝子学的因子の因果関係に関する実験的検討
４）臨床検体の癌組織からの培養癌細胞の樹立と抗癌剤感受性試検の改良

We are engaged in the study of gastrointestinal diseases; especially esophageal diseases, pulmonary and mediastinal disease, breast and endocrine organ diseases. Therefore we carry out research mainly in the following areas:

A) Gastrointestinal diseases

1) Analysis of genetic and chromosomal alterations in carcinomas
2) Expression analyses of oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, growth factors and cytokines for prognostic factors.
3) Genetic and biological study about identification of the sentinel modes and micrometastasis in lung cancer.
4) Establishment of primary cancer cell culture and drug sensitivity test of anticancer agents.
5) Functional evaluation of reconstructive methods after gastrointestinal surgery.
6) Clinical analyses of functional disorders of the esophagus.
7) Basic research on small bowel transplantation.

B) Pulmonary and Mediastinal disease

1) Analysis of genetic and chromosomal alterations in carcinomas
2) Expression analyses of oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, growth factors and cytokines for prognostic factors.

C) Breast and Endocrine organ diseases

1) Analysis of genetic and chromosomal alterations in carcinomas
2) Expression analyses of oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, growth factors and cytokines for prognostic factors.
3) Experimental analysis of the relationship between breast carcinogenesis and genetic factors in animal model.
4) Establishment of primary cancer cell culture and drug sensitivity test of anticancer agents.
