講座の概要
本講座では，臨床検査部門の検体，輸血，微生物，生理検査部門を担当しているが，特に12誘導心電図，ホルター心電図，負荷心電図，心臓超音波検査，経食道心臓超音波検査，頚動脈超音波検査等の循環生理機能検査を重点的に実施しており，緊急検査の依頼にも対応している。スタッフの多くは循環器専門医であり，非観血的な検査を中心とした循環器内科検査部門とも言える。
臨床研究では虚血性心疾患，各種不整脈の病態，心機能（心室 再同期療法とも関連して），自律神経機能解析に関する研究を行っている。また最近では性差医療，生活習慣と動脈硬化の進行につ いての研究にも力をいれている。基礎的研究として培養心筋細胞や動物モデルを用いた虚血再灌流障害を軽減する心保護作用，糖尿病による心機能障害や心房細動発症のメカニズムに関する研究を行っている。これらの研究結果は学会や論文の形で発表している。また漢方医学にも興味を持ち，学生教育や外来も行っている。
学生教育にも力をいれており医学部医学科学生，修士課程学生の講義を担当するとともに，臨床実習では微生物，免疫血清，血 液凝固，生理機能等の各部門において臨床と直結する実習を行っている。
Outline of Department
The department of Laboratory Examination and Diagnostics
is in charge of blood biochemical and immunological examinations,
blood transfusion, microbiological examinations
and physiological examinations. Most of the stuff in
this department are cardiologist and mainly perform noninvasive
physiological cardiovascular examinations, such as
electrocardiogram (ECG), Holter ECG, stress ECG,
echocardiogram, transesophageal echocardiogram and
non-invasive study of carotid artery by echo-doppler. We
are also ready for emergent examinations.
We are doing the clinical researches about ischemic heart disease, various types of arrhythmia, improvement of cardiac function by cardiac resynchronization therapy and functions of autonomic nervous system. We are also working on the projects about gender specific medicine and the lifestyle related progression of atherosclerosis. As basic researches, we are working on several projects including cardioprotective effects by chemicals against ischemia/ reperfusion injury, molecular mechanisms of diabetic cardiomyopathy, and development of up-stream therapy for atrial fibrillation using cultured cardiomyoctes or animal models. The results of the researches were presented in the scientific meetings and publications. We are interested in traditional Chinese medicine and in charge of outpatient clinic.
We also attach importance to the education for medical students. We give lectures to the undergraduate medical students and students in master's course. And in the clinical training, the students have a chance to learn about microbiological examinations, immunological examinations, blood coagulation tests and physiological examinations.
