　　母性看護学は，母子とその家族がライフサイクルを通して，より健康な生活を営むために求められるケアの質の保障・向上に向けた研究を行っている。中でも，

1）胎児の異常や予後不良を告げられた妊婦の心理・援助に関する研究
2）熟練助産師の実践知の解明・伝承に関する研究
3）母性看護学の教材に関する研究

に取り組み，母性看護の対象理解に努め，個々に培われている看 護技術を明らかにし，援助方法や教育手法を探求し，看護者の育 成を図ろうとしている。

　The Maternity Nursing Section is carrying out studies to explore how to assure and improve the quality of care required for supporting mothers, their children and related people so that they live more healthily throughout their life, cycle. The Section executes the following three studies in particular;

1) A psychological study of pregnant mothers notified a disorder or an unfavorable prognosis of their fetus, and a study on the support for such mothers,
2) A study on knowledge and techniques acquired by expert midwives through their experiences, and on transmission of the knowledge and techniques to the next generation,
3) A study on teaching materials for students of maternity nursing.

　The Maternity Nursing Section is endeavoring there by to understand the object of maternity nursing, to assemble and systematize information on nursing techniques acquired by individual nurses, to develop supporting and teaching methods, and to educate students for nurses.
