Our department was born in 1975 as the Department of Physiology, Oita Medical
College headed by prof. Makoto Arita. In 2000, prof. Katsushige Ono succeeded
the Laboratory as a current form.
In 2008, We have reconstituted our research unit to the Department of Pathophysiology
(formerly the Department of Cardiovascular Science).
Our research is focusing on pathophysical mechanisms of cardiovascular
and metabolic diseases and translation of the basic science into novel
therapeutic strategies. Our research also includes sports medicine, gender
medicine, ion channels, electrophysiology, cardiogenesis, hypertension,
and autonomic nerve function.
