Our department is the only one laboratory, which focuses mainly on rabies research among the Faculty of Medicine in Japan.

• On April 11, 2019, JICA President visit RITM and JAPOHR project
• On April 4, 2019, Nobuo Saito received an award "Shibasaburo Kitasato Memorial Young Investigator Award 2019" for "Dose-Dependent Negative Effects of Prior Multiple Vaccinations Against Influenza A and Influenza B Among Schoolchildren: A Study of Kamigoto Island in Japan During the 2011?2012, 2012?2013, and 2013?2014 Influenza Seasons"
• On January 25, 2019, We held the 1st Joint Coordination Committee(JCC) meeting for SATREPS Project.
• Since October 15st, 2018, Kazunori Kimitsuki has started to work at RITM in Republic of the Philippines as a JICA short term expert, for SATREPS project.
• Since October 1st, 2018, Nobuo Saito has started to work at RITM in Republic of the Philippines as a JICA long term expert, for SATREPS project.
• In 2018, Kazunori Kimitsuki (D.V.M., Ph.D.) Nobuo Saito (M.D., Ph.D.) joined our group as an assistant-professor.
• In 2017, the AMED/JICA research project entitled “Development of an Improved Laboratory Surveillance System for Rabies Elimination” (SATREPS; Principal Investigator is Prof. Nishizono) was approved.
