1月11日〜22日にThaiを訪問しました

　2026年1月11日から22日にかけて、タイの複数の大学を訪問して今後の学術交流について意見交換を行いました。マヒドン大学医学部シリラート病院救急医学部門には、1月12日から２週間、本学医学科5年生の椎名さんをクリニカルクラークシップに受け入れていただきます。そこで、本学救急医学講座教授の安部隆三先生とシリラート病院救急医学部門を表敬訪問をしました。また、小林が長年交流を重ねているチュラロンコーン大学理学部微生物学講座のタナパット パラガ教授の教室を訪問し、セミナーを行いました。また、マハーサーラカーム大学のBenjawan Saechue先生と現在進行中の共同研究について打ち合わせを行いました。さらに、内田智久先生（先進医療科学科・分子病理学講座）とともにマヒドン大学医学部シリラート病院免疫学部門、マヒドン大学理学部病理学部門、シーナカリンウィロート大学医学部を訪問し、多くの先生方や学生の皆さんと再会し、交流を深めるとともに、新しい共同研究や教育交流の可能性を広げることができました。

Visit to Thailand, January 11–22, 2026

　Prof. Kobayashi visited Thailand to hold discussions with several universities regarding future academic collaborations. Mahidol University Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Department of Emergency Medicine kindly agreed to host a fifth-year medical student from our university for a two-week clinical clerkship beginning on January 12. A courtesy visit was made together with Professor Ryuzo Abe (Department of Emergency Medicine). Prof. Kobayashi also visited the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, where he delivered a seminar and exchanged views with Professor Tanapat Palaga. In addition, discussions on ongoing collaborative research were held with Dr. Benjawan Saechue of Mahasarakham University. Furthermore, visits were made to Department of Immunology, Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, and Department of Pathology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, and Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University, strengthening academic ties and expanding opportunities for future research and educational exchange.

マヒドン大学医学部シリラート病院 救急医学部門

　マヒドン大学では、複数のキャンパスおよび部局を訪問しました。まず、本学医学科5年生の椎名さんをクリニカルクラークシップとして受け入れていただいている医学部シリラート病院 救急医学部門を訪問し、Dr. Nattakarn Praphruetkit 部門長、Dr. Wasin Pansiritanachot 先生、Dr. Wansiri Chaisirin 先生を、本学医学部救急医学講座の安部隆三教授とともに表敬訪問しました。 訪問では、はじめに Dr. Wasin 先生より部門の概要についてプレゼンテーションをしていただき、その後、Dr. Wasin 先生および Dr. Wansiri 先生により救急部門の施設をご案内いただきました。大分大学にはない教育設備や臨床教育体制を実際に拝見することで、本学学生がこの環境で学ばせていただくことの新たな意義と価値を再認識する貴重な機会となりました。夜には、アイコンサイアムにて救急医学部門主催の食事会にご招待いただき、本場のタイ料理を囲みながら、和やかな雰囲気の中で交流を深めました。その席で Dr. Wasin 先生より、将来的に大分大学・安部教授のもとで短期留学を希望したいとのお話もあり、今回の訪問が学生交流・研究交流を含む国際連携のさらなる加速につながっていることを実感しました。

Department of Emergency Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University

　During our visit to Mahidol University, we visited multiple campuses and departments. First, we visited the Department of Emergency Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, which is currently hosting Ms. Shiina, a fifth-year medical student from Oita University, for her clinical clerkship. Together with Professor Ryuzo Abe from the Department of Emergency Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Oita University, we paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Nattakarn Praphruetkit, Head of the Department, Dr. Wasin Pansiritanachot, and Dr. Wansiri Chaisirin. At the beginning of the visit, Dr. Wasin gave a presentation outlining the department’s structure and educational system. This was followed by a guided tour of the emergency medicine facilities conducted by Dr. Wasin and Dr. Wansiri. Observing educational facilities and clinical training systems not available at Oita University provided a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the significance and added value of allowing our students to learn in this outstanding clinical environment. In the evening, we were kindly invited to a dinner hosted by the Department of Emergency Medicine at ICONSIAM, where we enjoyed authentic Thai cuisine and deepened our交流 in a warm and friendly atmosphere. During the dinner, Dr. Wasin expressed his interest in undertaking a short-term training program at Oita University under Professor Abe, reinforcing our sense that this visit has contributed to the further acceleration of international collaboration, including both student and research exchanges.

マヒドン大学 医学部免疫学部門

　マヒドン大学医学部免疫学部門では、これまで Watip 先生により、本学医学部学生を短期留学生として受け入れていただいており、椎名さんも4年次の研究室配属の際にお世話になりました。今回の訪問では、内田智久先生とともに Watip 先生を表敬訪問しました。また、両校の学術交流をさらに深めるためには、互いの研究内容への理解が重要であることから、小林が最新の研究成果についてセミナー形式で紹介しました。免疫学部門の研究者の皆様との間で活発な意見交換が行われ、研究の方向性や今後の連携の可能性について有意義な議論が交わされました。今後も、学生交流を継続するとともに、研究者間の交流を一層加速させていくことで合意し、今回の訪問は両校の連携強化につながる大変有意義な機会となりました。

Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine

　At the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University, Professor Watip has previously hosted medical students from Oita University as short-term exchange students. Ms. Shiina also conducted her laboratory rotation there during her fourth year and received valuable guidance from the department. During this visit, Professor Watip was formally visited by Dr. Tomohisa Uchida together with Dr. Kobayashi. In order to further strengthen academic collaboration between the two institutions, it is essential to develop a mutual understanding of each other’s research activities. Accordingly, Dr. Kobayashi delivered a seminar introducing his latest research findings, followed by lively and constructive discussions with researchers from the Department of Immunology. These exchanges provided an excellent opportunity to explore future directions for collaborative research. Both sides agreed to continue student exchange programs and to further accelerate researcher-to-researcher interactions. This visit proved to be a highly productive and meaningful step toward strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions.

医学部外科学講座Thawatchai Akaraviputh 教授を表敬訪問

　マヒドン大学医学部シリラート病院外科学講座のThawatchai Akaraviputh 教授（副学部長）を表敬訪問しました。Thawatchai 教授には、昨年10月に大分で開催された 大分大学バンコクオフィス開所10周年記念行事 にご出席いただき、その際に医学生の交換留学受け入れについて意見交換を行いました。今回は改めてお時間をいただき、内田智久先生および椎名さんとともに表敬訪問を行いました。当日は、シリラート病院内のカフェにて、国際交流担当副学部長である Pornpan Koomanachai 先生（Nok先生）にも同席いただき、Thawatchai 教授と懇談しました。和やかな雰囲気の中で、両大学における医学生交流の現状や今後の展望について意見交換を行い、今後さらに学生交流を活発化させていくことで合意しました。本訪問は、大分大学とマヒドン大学医学部との国際的な教育連携を一層深化させる有意義な機会となりました。

Courtesy Visit to Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine

　 We paid a courtesy visit to Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Department of Surgery, Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University, who also serves as Deputy Dean of the Faculty. Professor Thawatchai previously attended the 10th Anniversary Ceremony of the Oita University Bangkok Office, held in Oita last October, where we exchanged views on the acceptance of medical students through exchange programs. On this occasion, we were pleased to have the opportunity to visit him again, together with Dr. Tomohisa Uchida and Ms. Shiina. The meeting was held at a café within Siriraj Hospital, where we were also joined by Dr. Pornpan Koomanachai (Dr. Nok), Assistant Dean for International Relations. In a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, we discussed the current status and future prospects of medical student exchanges between our two universities and agreed to further promote and strengthen student exchange programs. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen international educational collaboration between Oita University and the Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University.

マヒドン大学理学部 病理生物学部門

　マヒドン大学理学部病理生物学部門を訪問し、昨年8月にも交流の機会を持った Dr. Yaowarin Nakornpakdee 先生と、今後の学術交流の可能性について意見交換を行いました。 特に今回は、国費留学生として大分大学大学院博士課程への留学に関心を持つ学生と個別に面談し、研究内容や留学制度、大学院での研究生活に関する疑問点に丁寧に対応しました。学生たちは研究への意欲が高く、将来を見据えた真剣な姿勢が強く印象に残りました。今後、マヒドン大学理学部から優秀な学生が大分大学に進学し、研究・教育の両面で交流がさらに発展していくことが期待されます。

Department of Pathobiology, Faculty of Science

　We visited the Department of Pathobiology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, and held discussions with Dr. Yaowarin Nakornpakdee, with whom we also had an opportunity for academic exchange in August last year, regarding future possibilities for academic collaboration. During this visit, we held individual meetings with students who are interested in studying at Oita University as Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship doctoral students. We carefully addressed their questions concerning research topics, the scholarship system, and daily research life in the graduate program. The students demonstrated a high level of motivation and a strong commitment to their future research careers, which left a particularly positive impression. We look forward to welcoming outstanding students from the Faculty of Science at Mahidol University to Oita University and further strengthening academic exchange in both research and education.

チュラローンコーン大学（Chula）

　昨年8月に続き、今回もチュラローンコーン大学理学部微生物学講座（Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science）を訪問し、セミナーを行いました。セミナーでは、最新の研究成果について紹介するとともに、現地の研究者の皆様と活発な意見交換を行いました。また、昨年本学の研究室配属に参加した学生である Chaivis（Bird）さん、Salinthip（Phat）さん、Taniya（Fern）さんとも再会し、近況を共有することができました。 Tanapat Palaga 教授および Sita Virakul 先生とは、ダブルディグリープログラムについて協議を行い、大学院生交流における新たな可能性を確認しました。さらに Palaga 教授とは、二国間共同研究の計画についても意見交換を行い、今後の研究面での新たな展開が期待されます。 夜には、Palaga 教授、Virakul 先生に加え、大分大学大学院で学位を取得後、昨年より母校であるチュラローンコーン大学に復帰した Dr. Phawinee Subsomwong（愛称：Pha さん）とともに居酒屋で懇親の場を持ちました。さらに、シリラート病院で研修中の椎名さんも合流し、和やかな雰囲気の中で交流を深めることができました。

Chulalongkorn University（Chula）

　Following my visit in August last year, I again visited the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, where a seminar was held. During the seminar, recent research findings were presented, and active discussions were held with researchers at the department. We were also pleased to reunite with students who had participated in laboratory training at Oita University last year—Mr. Chaivis (Bird), Ms. Salinthip (Phat), and Ms. Taniya (Fern)—and to exchange updates on their current activities. Discussions were held with Professor Tanapat Palaga and Dr. Sita Virakul regarding a potential double-degree program, during which new opportunities for graduate student exchange were explored. In addition, Professor Palaga and we exchanged views on plans for bilateral collaborative research, raising expectations for new developments in future research collaborations. In the evening, we enjoyed an informal gathering at an izakaya with Professor Palaga, Dr. Virakul, and Dr. Phawinee Subsomwong (Pha), who obtained her doctoral degree at Oita University and returned to her alma mater, Chulalongkorn University, last year. Ms. Shiina, who is currently undergoing clinical training at Siriraj Hospital, also joined us, and we spent an enjoyable time strengthening our ties in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

タイ赤十字チュラロンコン記念病院

安部隆三教授のお知り合いである、タイ赤十字チュラロンコン記念病院ER-Observation Unit 部門長の Asst. Prof. Dr. Atthasit Komindr（通称：Andy 先生） と交流の機会を持ちました。Andy 先生は救急医として臨床の第一線で活躍される一方、ジャズバーを経営するという二つの顔をお持ちの非常に多才な先生です。当日は、安部教授のご家族、椎名さんも交えて夕食をご一緒し、その後は Andy 先生が経営されているジャズバー BLUEBIRD に場所を移して、落ち着いた雰囲気の中でゆっくりと会話を楽しみました。医療や教育、文化を超えた交流を通じて、親睦を深める貴重な時間となりました。

King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society

　We had the opportunity to meet with Asst. Prof. Dr. Atthasit Komindr (known as “Dr. Andy”), Director of the ER Observation Unit at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, who is an acquaintance of Professor Ryuzo Abe. Dr. Andy is a highly talented physician who works on the front lines as an emergency medicine specialist while also running a jazz bar. On this occasion, we enjoyed dinner together with Professor Abe’s family and Ms. Shiina. Afterward, we moved to BLUEBIRD, the jazz bar owned by Dr. Andy, where we spent a relaxing evening enjoying conversation in a calm and welcoming atmosphere. This gathering provided a valuable opportunity to deepen mutual friendship through exchanges that transcended medicine, education, and culture.

マハーサーラカーム大学（MSU）

マハーサーラカーム大学（MSU）獣医学部の Benjawan Saechue 先生（愛称：Fai さん） と、現在進行中の共同研究について打ち合わせを行いました。Fai さんは当講座の卒業生であり、直近では 12月25日から1月8日まで大分大学に滞在し、共同実験を実施したばかりです。 今回の打ち合わせでは、研究計画の詳細について綿密に検討を行い、本年中の論文発表を目指して研究を進めていくことを確認しました。また、来年度に大分大学の研究室配属へ参加予定の学生の受け入れ についても意見交換を行い、今後の教育・研究面での連携強化に向けた具体的な協議を進めました。

Mahasarakham University（MSU）

　We held a meeting with Dr. Benjawan Saechue (nickname: Fai) from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mahasarakham University (MSU) to discuss our ongoing collaborative research. Dr. Saechue is an alumna of our department and recently stayed at Oita University from December 25 to January 8, during which time joint experiments were conducted. At this meeting, we carefully reviewed the details of the research plan and confirmed our intention to advance the study toward publication within this year. We also exchanged views on the acceptance of students scheduled to participate in laboratory assignments at Oita University in the next academic year, and held concrete discussions aimed at strengthening future collaboration in both education and research.

シーナカリンウィロート大学（SWU）

　SWUでは、医学部関係者（Dr. Arucha, Dr. Shoowit, Dr. Sivaporn）とお昼をご一緒して、ざっくばらんな雰囲気の中、学術交流の可能性についてお話ししました。その後、Chonlawit Jiarajit学長、Prapaporn Rojsiriruch国際交流担当副学長へのご挨拶の機会をいただき、両校のMOU締結に前向きなお言葉をいただきました。さらに、医学部関係者（Dr. Shoowit, Dr. Arucha, Dr. Sivaporn, Dr. Srisombat Puttikamonkul (Bat), Dr. Yamaratee Jamison (Tang), Dr. Atthaboon Watthammawut (Boon)）と懇談し、MOU締結に向けた協議を含む教育・研究における今後の交流の可能性について意見交換を行いました。小林が大分大学における研究内容と研究の特色についてプレゼンし、大分大学への理解を深めてもらいました。

Srinakharinwirot University（SWU）

　At Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), we shared lunch with faculty members from the Faculty of Medicine (Dr. Arucha, Dr. Shoowit, and Dr. Sivaporn) and exchanged views on the potential for academic collaboration in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Following this, we were given the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to President Chonlawit Jiarajit and Vice President for International Affairs, Prapaporn Rojsiriruch, who expressed their positive interest in establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two universities. We also held discussions with medical faculty members (Dr. Shoowit, Dr. Arucha, Dr. Sivaporn, Dr. Srisombat Puttikamonkul (Bat), Dr. Yamaratee Jamison (Tang), and Dr. Atthaboon Watthammawut (Boon)), exchanging views on future opportunities for educational and research collaboration, including discussions toward the conclusion of an MOU. During the meeting, Professor Kobayashi gave a presentation on the research activities and distinctive strengths of Oita University, helping to deepen the participants’ understanding of the university.
