Participation in the 15th Cancer, Inflammation and Antioxidation Research Meeting (CIA Meeting) (May 9, 2026)
On May 9, the 15th Cancer, Inflammation and Antioxidation Research Meeting (CIA Meeting) was held at Holt Hall Oita. The meeting was organized by Associate Professor Hijiya from the Department of Molecular Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Oita University. From our department, Dr. Sachi gave an oral presentation entitled “CCL9 Suppresses EAE Pathology by Regulating Inflammatory Chemokine Responses and Inflammatory Cell Differentiation.” During the discussion session, she received a variety of insightful questions, including whether the anti-inflammatory effects of CCL9 could also be observed in other inflammatory diseases, whether CCL9 might serve as a biomarker for inflammatory activity, and the molecular mechanisms underlying the compensatory upregulation of other chemokines in CCL9-deficient conditions. In the luncheon seminar, Dr. Chiyoko Nukuzuma from the Japanese Organization for Nagayu-style Carbonated Hot Spring Therapy introduced the effects of bicarbonate hot spring bathing on immune regulation and its potential therapeutic benefits for various diseases. The seminar provided many interesting perspectives on the relationship between thermal therapy and the immune system. The meeting offered a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest findings in inflammation and immunology research and to exchange ideas across different research fields. |
