Doctoral Degree Conferment Ceremony
On June 16, a doctoral degree conferment ceremony was held for Yomei Kagoshima, who successfully completed the doctoral program at Oita University. During his graduate studies, Yomei joined the Department of Infectious Disease Control from the Department of Gastroenterology and conducted basic research focusing on the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
At the ceremony, President Seigo Kitano presented Yomei with his doctoral degree in recognition of his academic achievements and dedicated research efforts. President Kitano also offered warm words of encouragement, saying, “I hope you will continue to fully enjoy both your life as a physician and your life as a researcher.”
During his doctoral studies, Yomei investigated the role of the chemokine CCL9 and its receptor CCR1 in maintaining intestinal immune homeostasis. His work provided new insights into the mechanisms underlying inflammatory bowel disease and contributed to a better understanding of intestinal inflammation.
Following the ceremony, commemorative photographs were taken with Professor Kazuhiro Mizukami of the Department of Gastroenterology, as well as faculty members and students of the Department of IDC, celebrating this important milestone together.
We sincerely congratulate Yomei Kagoshima on earning his doctoral degree and look forward to his continued success. We hope that the knowledge, skills, and experience he gained through his research will contribute to both his clinical practice and future scientific endeavors. |
