8月17日〜29日にThaiを訪問しました

　2026年8月17日から29日にかけて、タイの複数の協定校を訪問し、今後の学術交流や共同研究、学生交流について意見交換を行いました。
　長年にわたり交流を続けているチュラロンコン大学理学部微生物学講座では、今年採択されたNRCT-JSPS二国間交流事業を基盤として、タナパット・パラガ教授をはじめとする研究者と、今後の共同研究や研究者・学生交流の具体的な展開について協議しました。また、大学院のダブルディグリープログラムについては、パラガ教授に加え、医学部微生物学講座のナティア・ヒランカーン（Nattiya Hirankarn）教授との打合せも行いました。
　また、マヒドン大学ではシリラート病院の免疫学講座、救急医学講座などを訪問し、これまでの学生交流をさらに発展させるための意見交換を行いました。さらに、今年初めてタマサート大学から医学生を本学に受け入れたことを受け、タマサート大学CICM（Chulabhorn International College of Medicine）を訪問し、医学部長をはじめとする教員の皆様と今後の学生交流について懇談しました。シーナカリンウィロート大学医学部ではセミナーを行うとともに、両大学間のMOU締結に向けた進捗を確認しました。また、大分大学医学部でのクリニカルクラークシップへの参加を希望する医学生とも面会し、今後の受け入れについて意見交換を行いました。今回のタイ訪問では、この春、大分大学に短期留学した各大学の学生とも再会し、留学後の近況や今後の交流について話し合うなど、学生同士の交流をさらに深める機会となりました。
　今回の訪問を通じて、これまで築いてきたタイの協定校との関係をさらに深めるとともに、共同研究、研究者交流、学生交流、そして医学教育における連携を一層加速させるための具体的な協議を行うことができました。

Visit to Partner Universities in Thailand (August 17-29, 2026)

　From August 17 to 29, 2026, Prof. Takashi Kobayashi visited several of Oita University’s partner universities in Thailand and held discussions on future academic collaboration, joint research, and student exchange programs. At the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, with which Oita University has maintained a long-standing academic relationship, he met with researchers including Professor Tanapat Palaga. Building on the NRCT-JSPS Bilateral Research Exchange Program adopted this year, they discussed concrete plans for future joint research as well as researcher and student exchanges. He also met with Professor Nattiya Hirankarn of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, together with Professor Palaga, to discuss the development of a graduate-level double-degree program. At Mahidol University, he visited the Departments of Immunology and Emergency Medicine at Siriraj Hospital and exchanged views on further developing the existing student exchange programs. Following the acceptance of medical students from Thammasat University at Oita University for the first time this year, he also visited Chulabhorn International College of Medicine (CICM), Thammasat University, where he met with the Dean and faculty members to discuss future opportunities for student exchange. At the Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University, he gave a research seminar and discussed the progress toward establishing an MOU between the two universities. He also met with medical students interested in participating in clinical clerkships at Oita University Faculty of Medicine and exchanged views on future opportunities for accepting students. During his visit to Thailand, he also had the opportunity to reunite with students from partner universities who had participated in short-term study programs at Oita University this spring. He heard about their experiences since returning home and discussed future opportunities for exchange, further strengthening the connections developed through their time at Oita University. Through this visit, he was able to further strengthen the relationships Oita University has built with its partner universities in Thailand and engage in concrete discussions to accelerate collaboration in joint research, researcher exchange, student exchange, and medical education.

チュラローンコーン大学（Chula）を訪問しました

　長年にわたり交流を続けているチュラロンコン大学を訪問し、今後の共同研究や研究者・学生交流、大学院のダブルディグリープログラムについて協議しました。

Chulalongkorn University（Chula）

Prof. Takashi Kobayashi visited Chulalongkorn University, with which Oita University has maintained a long-standing academic relationship, and held discussions on future joint research, researcher and student exchanges, and the graduate-level double-degree program.

　チュラロンコン大学理学部微生物学講座では、今年採択されたNRCT-JSPS二国間交流事業を基盤として、タナパット・パラガ教授をはじめ、医学部寄生虫学講座のPadet Siriyasatien教授、Kanok Preativatanyou助教と研究打ち合わせを行いました。今後実施する具体的な実験内容や方法、実施時期について協議し、共同研究をさらに進めていくための具体的な計画を確認しました。また、今年10月から大分大学大学院に進学予定のSalinthip Kengtrong（Phat）さんも打ち合わせに参加しました。Phatさんは今後、大分大学とチュラロンコン大学の両大学を行き来しながら研究を進める予定です。一方、チュラロンコン大学に所属するKarnさんも、両大学を行き来しながら研究を行う予定で、彼女とも面会し、今後の研究について挨拶を交わしました。

At the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, he met with researchers including Professor Tanapat Palaga, as well as Professor Padet Siriyasatien and Assistant Professor Kanok Preativatanyouj of the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine. Based on the NRCT-JSPS Bilateral Research Exchange Program adopted this year, they discussed the specific experimental approaches and timing for the research to be conducted in the future, and confirmed a concrete plan for further advancing the joint research. Salinthip Kengtrong (Phat), who is scheduled to enter the Graduate School of Oita University in October this year, also participated in the research meeting. She will conduct research by traveling between Oita University and Chulalongkorn University in the future. Meanwhile, Karn, who is affiliated with Chulalongkorn University, will also conduct research by traveling between the two universities. Prof. Kobayashi met with Khan on a separate day and exchanged greetings regarding their future research collaboration.

　大学院のダブルディグリープログラムについては、パラガ教授に加え、医学部微生物学講座のナティア・ヒランカーン（Nattiya Hirankarn）教授とも打ち合わせを行いました。チュラロンコン大学理学部とのダブルディグリープログラムについては、両大学の学長および学部長の署名が入った覚書が完成しており、今回、大分大学側の文書を持ち帰りました。長年にわたる交流が、具体的な教育連携の形となったことを実感する機会となりました。また、チュラロンコン大学医学部とのダブルディグリープログラムについては、今回締結された理学部との覚書を基盤として、今後具体的な制度設計を進めていくことで合意しました。

Regarding the graduate-level double-degree program, he also met with Professor Nattiya Hirankarn of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, in addition to Professor Palaga. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the double-degree program between the Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University and Oita University, bearing the signatures of the presidents and deans of both universities, has now been completed. Prof. Kobayashi brought the Oita University copy back with him to Oita. This marked an important milestone, demonstrating how the long-standing academic relationship between the two universities has developed into a concrete form of educational collaboration.Regarding the double-degree program with the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, it was agreed that the program will be developed based on the MOU recently concluded with the Faculty of Science. The two universities will continue discussions toward establishing the specific framework and procedures for the program.
　
　訪問最終日には、NRCT-JSPS二国間交流事業の一環として、これまで継続して開催してきた合同セミナーを開催しました。小林がオープニングリマークスを行った後、小林、パラガ教授、Kanok助教がそれぞれの研究について発表しました。チュラロンコン大学からは大学院生や学部生が参加し、研究発表に熱心に耳を傾けるとともに、研究内容について意見交換を行いました。今回の合同セミナーを通じて、共同研究の進展に加え、次世代の研究者を含めた交流をさらに深めることができました。

On the final day of the visit, a joint seminar was held as part of the NRCT-JSPS Bilateral Research Exchange Program, continuing a series of seminars that have been held regularly between the two universities. Prof. Kobayashi delivered the opening remarks, followed by research presentations by Prof. Kobayashi, Professor Palaga, and Assistant Professor Kanok. Graduate and undergraduate students from Chulalongkorn University also attended the seminar, listening attentively to the presentations and engaging in discussions about the research. The seminar provided an excellent opportunity not only to advance the joint research project but also to further strengthen academic exchange, including interactions with the next generation of researchers.
　
　また、チュラロンコン大学訪問では、今年春に大分大学へ交換留学生として短期留学し、研究室配属を経験した学生たちとも再会しました。ブルーくん、バイトイさん、ナンプーンさんとの再会を喜び、近況を聞きながら、大分大学での留学経験を振り返りました。一方、シーリンさんは残念ながら、怪我による入院のため今回は会うことができませんでしたが、早期の回復を願っています。 今回の訪問を通じて、これまで築いてきたチュラロンコン大学との信頼関係をさらに深めるとともに、NRCT-JSPS事業を基盤とした共同研究、研究者交流、学生交流、そして大学院教育における連携を、具体的な形で発展させていくための重要な機会となりました。

During his visit to Chulalongkorn University, he also had the opportunity to reunite with students who had participated in a short-term exchange program at Oita University this spring and experienced research placements in our laboratories. He was delighted to see Blue, Baitoey, and Nampoon again, and they shared updates on their lives and reflected on their experiences at Oita University. Unfortunately, Serene was unable to meet with him this time as she was hospitalized due to an injury, and he wishes her a speedy recovery. This visit provided an important opportunity to further strengthen the relationship of trust that Oita University has built with Chulalongkorn University and to advance, in concrete ways, collaboration in joint research, researcher and student exchange, and graduate education based on the NRCT-JSPS Bilateral Research Exchange Program.

マヒドン大学医学部シリラート病院を訪問しました

　マヒドン大学医学部シリラート病院を訪問し、これまでの学生交流を振り返るとともに、今後の研究者・学生交流や医学教育における連携について意見交換を行いました。

Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University

Prof. Takashi Kobayashi visited Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University, where he reflected on the student exchanges that have taken place to date and exchanged views on future collaboration in researcher and student exchanges as well as medical education.

　免疫学講座では、Watip Tangjittipokin先生に加え、講座のヘッドを務めるDr. Phornnop Naiyanetr先生を訪問しました。今年5月に大分大学医学部の飯島さんを受け入れていただいたことへのお礼をお伝えするとともに、研究セミナーを行い、互いの研究内容について理解を深めました。また、今後の研究者交流や学生交流についても意見交換を行いました。

At the Department of Immunology, he met with Dr. Watip Tangjittipokin and Dr. Phornnop Naiyanetr, Chair of the Department. He expressed his appreciation for accepting Iijima, a medical student from Oita University, in May. He also gave a research seminar, which provided an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding of their respective research. They also exchanged views on future opportunities for researcher and student exchange.

　救急医学講座では、ナタカーン（Nattakarn Praphruetkit）先生、ワシン（Wasin Pansiritanachot）先生、ヤム（Wansiri Chaisirin）先生と再会しました。今年1月に大分大学医学部の椎名さんを受け入れていただいたことへのお礼をお伝えするとともに、次回の学生受け入れについてお願いしました。今回は、今後シリラート病院での研修を希望する大分大学医学部生2名のアポイントメントレターをお渡ししました。先生方は学生からの手紙にも目を通してくださり、熱いメッセージに感動された様子でした。これまで築いてきた学生交流を今後も継続していくことを確認しました。
At the Department of Emergency Medicine, he reunited with Dr. Nattakarn Praphruetkit, Dr. Wasin Pansiritanachot, and Dr. Wansiri Chaisirin. He expressed his appreciation for accepting Yuri Shiina, a medical student from Oita University, in January, and asked for their continued support in accepting Oita University students for future clinical training. During this visit, he also presented appointment letters from two medical students at Oita University who hope to undertake clinical training at Siriraj Hospital in the future. The doctors kindly took the time to read the letters written by the students and appeared deeply moved by their heartfelt messages. The meeting also provided an opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to continuing the student exchange that the two institutions have built over the years.



　外科学のタワチャイ（Thawatchai Akaraviputh）先生、感染症学のノック（Pornpan Koomanachai）先生にもご挨拶し、チャオプラヤ川を望むタイ料理店で昼食をご一緒しました。このレストランはシリラート病院の近くに昔からある老舗で、タワチャイ先生も学生時代からよく通っていた思い出のあるお店とのことでした。食事を楽しみながら、今後の学術交流について意見交換を行い、ノック先生が9月に大分大学を訪問されることになりました。

　He also met with Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh from the Department of Surgery and Dr. Pornpan Koomanachai from the Department of Infectious Diseases, and enjoyed lunch with them at a Thai restaurant overlooking the Chao Phraya River. The restaurant is a long-established local favorite located near Siriraj Hospital, and Professor Thawatchai shared that he had often visited the restaurant since his student days and had many fond memories of the place. While enjoying the meal, they exchanged views on future academic collaboration, and it was agreed that Dr. Pornpan will visit Oita University in September.

　さらに、国際交流部門ではPatsu Supakajohnwanich氏を訪問し、今後の交換留学の計画について打ち合わせを行いました。訪問時には、今年大分大学で短期留学を経験したPoomjaiくん、Inkさん、Moさんもオフィスに来てくれ、久しぶりの再会を喜びました。その後、学生たちと一緒に昼食をとり、Moさんのお気に入りだというチャオプラヤ川沿いのタイ料理店を訪れました。そこで驚いたことに、そのレストランは先にタワチャイ先生、ノック先生と昼食をとったのと同じお店でした。シリラート病院を訪れる教職員や学生にとって、チャオプラヤ川を眺めながら食事を楽しめる人気のレストランであることが分かりました。思いがけない偶然を通じて、シリラート病院の先生方や学生たちの普段の生活を少し身近に感じることができました。今回の訪問を通じて、研究、医学教育、学生交流、そして研究者交流のそれぞれの面で、マヒドン大学医学部との連携をさらに発展させるための具体的な意見交換を行うことができました。

At the Division of International Relations, he met with Mr. Patsu Supakajohnwanich to discuss plans for future student exchange programs. During the visit, Poomjai, Ink, and Mo, who had participated in short-term study programs at Oita University earlier this year, also came to the office. It was a wonderful opportunity to reunite with them after some time. Afterward, he had lunch with the students at a Thai restaurant overlooking the Chao Phraya River, which Mo recommended as one of her favorite restaurants. To his surprise, the restaurant turned out to be the same place where he had previously enjoyed lunch with Professor Thawatchai and Dr. Pornpan. He learned that the restaurant is a popular place among faculty members, staff, and students visiting Siriraj Hospital, who enjoy dining there while taking in the view of the Chao Phraya River. Through this unexpected coincidence, he was able to gain a small glimpse into the everyday lives of the faculty members and students at Siriraj Hospital and feel a little closer to them. Through this visit, he was able to engage in concrete discussions on further developing collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University, in the areas of research, medical education, student exchange, and researcher exchange.

タマサート大学（CICM）を訪問しました　Thammasat University CICM

　今年初めてタマサート大学から医学生を大分大学に受け入れたことを受け、タマサート大学Chulabhorn International College of Medicine（CICM）を訪問し、今後の学生交流や学術交流について意見交換を行いました。 今回の訪問では、昨年11月に大分大学を訪問されたPeerapong Kitipawong医学部長、Sattrachai Prasopdee先生、Kittikhun Kerdsomboon先生と再会しました。また、今年8月に大分大学で短期留学を経験したMimiさん、Namuanさんとも再会し、久しぶりに言葉を交わすことができました。さらに、今回初めてお会いしたPiyaporn Surinlert先生、Teva Phanaksr先生、Arti Wongcha-um先生らとも、今後の学生交流をはじめとする学術交流について懇談しました。
Following the acceptance of medical students from Thammasat University at Oita University for the first time this year, he visited Chulabhorn International College of Medicine (CICM), Thammasat University, and exchanged views on future student and academic exchange. During the visit, he reunited with Dean Peerapong Kitipawong, as well as Dr. Sattrachai Prasopdee and Dr. Kittikhun Kerdsomboon, whom he had met when they visited Oita University last November. He also had the opportunity to reunite with Mimi and Namuan, who had participated in a short-term study program at Oita University in August, and was delighted to see them again after their return to Thailand. In addition, he met Dr. Piyaporn Surinlert, Dr. Teva Phanaksr, and Dr. Arti Wongcha-um for the first time, and had a friendly discussion with them about future academic exchange, including student exchange programs.

　その後、先生方にキャンパスをご案内いただき、医学部の実習室や実験施設、附属病院を見学しました。また、図書館や学生の宿泊施設なども案内していただきました。教育・研究環境が非常に充実しており、大分大学の学生が留学した場合にも、充実した学びの機会を得ることができると感じました。

The faculty members then kindly showed him around the campus, including the medical school’s training rooms, research facilities, and affiliated hospital. He also had the opportunity to visit the library and student accommodation facilities. He was impressed by the excellent educational and research environment and felt that Oita University students would have a highly rewarding learning experience if they had the opportunity to study at CICM.

　夜には、何名かの先生方とチャオプラヤ川沿いのタイ料理店で夕食をご一緒しました。大学での打ち合わせとはまた違った、ざっくばらんな雰囲気の中で食事を楽しみながら交流を深めることができ、先生方との距離がぐっと近くなったように感じました。温かいおもてなしと細やかなご配慮に、心より感謝いたします。 今回の訪問を通じて、タマサート大学CICMの先生方との交流をさらに深めるとともに、今後の学生交流や学術交流を具体的に発展させていくための貴重な機会となりました。

In the evening, he joined several faculty members for dinner at a Thai restaurant along the Chao Phraya River. Away from the formal atmosphere of the meetings at the university, they enjoyed a relaxed meal and had the opportunity to deepen their personal connections. The informal setting made him feel much closer to the faculty members. He was deeply grateful for their warm hospitality and thoughtful attention throughout his visit. This visit provided a valuable opportunity to further strengthen relationships with the faculty members of CICM, Thammasat University, and to discuss concrete ways to further develop student and academic exchange between the two institutions.

シーナカリンウィロート大学（SWU）を訪問しました　Srinakharinwirot University

　今年1月にも訪問したシーナカリンウィロート大学医学部を再び訪問し、今回は大分大学で取り組んでいる研究を紹介するセミナーを開催しました。セミナーには大学院生やレジデントなど若手の先生方も参加し、研究発表に熱心に耳を傾けていただきました。研究を通じて両大学の交流をさらに深める貴重な機会となりました。 今回の訪問では、Malai Taweechotipatr先生、Arucha Treesirichod先生、Parkkapus Shoowit先生、Sivaporn Wannaiampikul先生と再会しました。現在、両大学間のMOU締結に向けた最終的な協議が進められており、今回の訪問でも今後の学術交流について意見交換を行いました。
MOU締結を見据え、早くも具体的な交換留学についての相談もいただきました。医学部5年生のLaraさん（Thamonwan Chaitavatputtiporn）は、大分大学医学部消化器・小児外科学講座が取り組んでいるAIを活用した手術支援技術に強い関心を持っており、大分大学での研修を希望しています。来年3月の留学実現に向けて、今後具体的な準備を進めていく予定です。 今回の訪問を通じて、両大学の交流がMOU締結という枠組みづくりにとどまらず、研究者交流や学生交流など具体的な活動へと着実に発展しつつあることを実感しました。

Prof. Kobayashi visited the Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University, which he had also visited in January. During this visit, he gave a research seminar to introduce the research conducted at Oita University. Graduate students and young resident physicians also attended the seminar and listened attentively to the presentations. The seminar provided a valuable opportunity to further strengthen the academic exchange between the two universities through research. During the visit, he reunited with Dr. Malai Taweechotipatr, Dr. Arucha Treesirichod, Dr. Parkkapus Shoowit, and Dr. Sivaporn Wannaiampikul. The two universities are currently in the final stages of discussions toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and they exchanged views on future academic collaboration. Looking ahead to the conclusion of the MOU, the university also raised a concrete request regarding student exchange. Lara (Thamonwan Chaitavatputtiporn), a fifth-year medical student, is particularly interested in AI-assisted surgical technology being developed by the Department of Gastroenterological and Pediatric Surgery at Oita University. Preparations will be made to enable her to participate in a study program at Oita University next March. Through this visit, he felt that the relationship between the two universities is steadily developing beyond the establishment of an MOU into concrete activities, including researcher and student exchange.

マハーサーラカーム大学（MSU）Faiさんと再会
　マハーサーラカーム大学（Mahasarakham University: MSU）のFaiさんと、バンコクで再会しました。Faiさんはこの日、出張のためバンコクを訪れており、思いがけず再会する機会となりました。 タナパット先生、シタ先生とも合流し、食事を楽しみながら、現在進めている共同研究について打ち合わせを行いました。今後の研究の進め方などについて、リラックスした雰囲気の中で意見を交換することができました。 Faiさんは、8月7日にスカンヤ学部長とともに大分大学を訪問したばかりでしたが、今回バンコクでも再び会うことができ、とても嬉しい再会となりました。大学を越えた交流が、こうした日常のつながりの中でも少しずつ深まっていることを感じるひとときとなりました。

Reuniting with Fai from Mahasarakham University（MSU）

He had the opportunity to reunite with Fai from Mahasarakham University (MSU) in Bangkok. Fai was in Bangkok on a business trip that day, which provided an unexpected opportunity for them to meet again. He was joined by Professor Tanapat Palaga and Professor Sita Virakul, and they discussed their ongoing joint research over a meal. The relaxed setting provided a good opportunity to exchange views on the progress and future direction of their research. Fai had only recently visited Oita University on August 7 together with Dean Sukhanya, but it was a great pleasure to see her again in Bangkok as well. Their reunion was a reminder of how academic relationships can continue to grow through personal connections beyond the university setting.
