Student representatives from the three departments also expressed their determination to carry the Faculty’s legacy forward to the next generation. The forum, themed “Thinking about the Present and Future of Community Healthcare,” provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges and future of regional healthcare. The program also featured a special concert by singer-songwriter Masashi Sada, whose connection to Oita University Hospital made the occasion particularly meaningful. At the evening reception, faculty members, alumni, and guests celebrated the milestone while enjoying music performed by Espressivo, a quartet formed by members of the Faculty of Medicine Orchestra. Oita Medical University opened in 1976 and merged with Oita University in 2003 to become its Faculty of Medicine. Over the past half-century, the Faculty has educated more than 6,000 healthcare professionals and contributed to healthcare in Oita Prefecture and beyond. The anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on the Faculty’s achievements and express gratitude to the many people who have supported its development. Looking ahead, the Faculty remains committed to nurturing healthcare professionals and advancing medical education, research, and regional healthcare. |
