2025年2月3日（月）〜4日（火）にかけて、リゾーピア別府にて「温泉免疫研究会」を開催しました。 本研究会は、昨年に東京大学医科学研究所の石井健教授と大阪大学先端化粧品科学共同研究講座（マンダム）の研究者の呼びかけで発足したもので、京都大学医学部皮膚科学教室の（椛島健治教授）および大分大学感染予防医学講座のメンバーが中心となって行われています。各研究室から最新の研究成果が発表され、活発な意見交換が行われました。 今年は特別企画として、温泉入浴の科学的効果を検証する試みを実施しました。今回は、伽藍岳（がらんだけ）の中腹にある強酸性の温泉として知られる塚原温泉の効果を検証しました。塚原温泉は、鉄イオンの多さで全国1位、酸性度の強さで全国2位、アルミニウムイオンの多さで全国2位を誇り、日本三大薬湯のひとつとして知られる全国的にも珍しい泉質を持つ温泉です。皮膚の性状、pH、細菌叢（マイクロバイオータ）などを温泉入浴の前後で比較し、結果は今年の秋には出ると思います。 夜には懇親会が開かれ、温泉地ならではの和やかな雰囲気の中で、研究者同士の交流が深まりました。

　The Onsen Immunology Workshop was held at Resorpia Beppu from February 3 (Mon) to February 4 (Tue), 2025. This workshop was launched last year at the initiative of Professor Ken Ishii from the Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo, and researchers from the Collaborative Research Laboratory for Advanced Cosmetic Science (Mandom), Osaka University. It is now organized jointly with Professor Kenji Kabashima from the Department of Dermatology, Kyoto University School of Medicine, and members of the Department of Infectious Disease Control, Oita University Faculty of Medicine. Researchers from each participating laboratory presented their latest findings, followed by active and stimulating discussions.This year, as a special project, the participants conducted a scientific study to examine the effects of hot spring bathing. In particular, they investigated the effects of Tsukahara Onsen, a strongly acidic hot spring located on the middle slopes of Mt. Garandake. Tsukahara Onsen is known for its uniquely rich mineral composition - it ranks first in Japan for iron ion content, second for acidity, and second for aluminum ion concentration. It is also recognized as one of Japan's three major medicinal hot springs (Nihon Sandai Yakuto). Various parameters such as skin properties, pH, and microbiota were compared before and after bathing, and the results are expected to be available in the fall of this year. In the evening, a social gathering was held in the relaxing atmosphere unique to Beppu’s hot spring setting, providing an excellent opportunity for researchers to deepen their interactions and collaboration.
