8月15日〜27日にThaiを訪問しました。
　2025年8月15日から27日にかけて、内田智久先生（先進医療科学科・分子病理学講座）とともにタイを訪問し、複数の大学を訪問して今後の学術交流について意見交換を行いました。また、すでに協定を締結しているパートナーとは研究発表会を行い学術交流を深めました。今年も昨年に続き、多くの先生方や学生の皆さんと再会し、交流を深めるとともに、新しい共同研究や教育交流の可能性を広げることができました。

Visit to Thailand, August 15–27, 2025
　 From August 15 to 27, 2025, I visited Thailand together with Dr. Tomohisa Uchida (Department of Molecular Pathology). During our stay, we visited several universities and held discussions on future academic collaborations. We also organized research presentations with partner institutions with which we have already signed agreements, further deepening our academic exchange. As in the previous year, we were able to reunite with many professors and students, deepen our relationships, and further explore new possibilities for joint research and educational exchange.

シーナカリンウィロート大学（SWU）
　SWUでは、医学部関係者（Dr. Nantana, Dr. Shoowit, Dr. Sivaporn）とお昼をご一緒して、ざっくばらんな雰囲気の中、学術交流の可能性についてお話ししました。その後、国際交流担当副学長Dr. Prapapornを加え、Dr. Nantana医学部長をはじめとした医学部関係者（Dr. Shoowit, Dr. Malai, Dr. Sivaporn）、理学部研究者（Dr. Sukhumaporn, Dr. Surawut）の先生方と懇談し、MOU締結に向けた協議を含む教育・研究における今後の交流の可能性について意見交換を行いました。多くの先生方にご参加いただき、活発な議論が交わされました。

Srinakharinwirot University（SWU）
　At SWU, we first had lunch with faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine (Dr. Nantana, Dr. Shoowit, and Dr. Sivaporn) in a relaxed atmosphere, discussing the prospects for academic collaboration. Later, joined by Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Prapaporn, we held a meeting with Dean of Medicine Dr. Nantana, other medical faculty members (Dr. Shoowit, Dr. Malai, Dr. Sivaporn), and researchers from the Faculty of Science (Dr. Sukhumaporn, Dr. Surawut). We engaged in active discussions on potential collaboration in education and research, including preparations toward signing an MOU.

モンクット王工科大学ラートクラバン校（KMITL）
　KMITL医学部を訪問し、Dr. Anan Srikiatkhachorn 医学部長、Dr. Sranya Phaisawang 副学部長らと面会しました。MOU（学術交流協定）締結に向けて前向きな協議を行い、最新の教育・研究施設の見学も行いました。KMITL医学部は新しく設置された若い学部で、１学年の学生数も30名以下と小規模ですが、KMITL自体がタイ屈指のテクノロジー系大学であることから、医学教育においても既存の枠にとらわれず、テクノロジーと医学を融合させた新たな教育を実践している非常に興味深い学部です。大分大学医学部にも先進医療科学科が設置され、医工学を学ぶ環境が整っていることから、両大学の今後の交流には大きな期待が寄せられます。今回の訪問は、その具体化に向けた大きな一歩となりました。

King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang（KMITL）
　At KMITL Faculty of Medicine, we met with Dean Dr. Anan Srikiatkhachorn and Vice Dean Dr. Sranya Phaisawang, and held positive discussions toward concluding an academic exchange MOU. We also toured their state-of-the-art educational and research facilities. The Faculty of Medicine at KMITL is newly established and relatively small, with fewer than 30 students per year. However, since KMITL itself is one of Thailand’s leading technology universities, its medical education is not bound by traditional frameworks but instead pursues an innovative curriculum that integrates technology and medicine. This makes it a particularly fascinating institution. As Oita University Faculty of Medicine has also established the Department of Advanced Medical Sciences, where students study medical engineering, we see strong potential for future collaboration between our two universities. This visit marked a significant step forward toward realizing that collaboration.


マヒドン大学
　Mahidol大学では、複数のキャンパス・部局を訪問しました。 Faculty of Science, Department of Pathobiology では小林が学術セミナーを行い、研究成果を紹介するとともに、Dr. Yaowarin Nakornpakdee, Dr. Niwat Kangwanrangsanをはじめとする研究者の皆様と活発な議論を交わしました。また、内田教授から学生に向けてMEXT奨学金について説明があり、多くの質問を受けました。優秀な学生にぜひ大分大学大学院で学んでほしいと感じました。
　 CNMI（Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute） 昨年に続き、Dr. Pornpun Vivithanaporn先生と再会し、現状や将来の交流の方向性について意見交換しました。10月から本学博士課程に入学予定のTipanan Khunsriさんも同席し、今後の展望について語り合いました。
　 Siriraj Hospital 救急医学講座では、Dr. Wansiri Chaisirin先生の紹介で、Dr. Nattakarn Praphruetkit部門長、Dr. Wasin Pansiritanachot先生と国際交流について協議しました。本学医学科の椎名優里さんは、来年同講座で学ぶことを希望しており、１月の受け入れが前向きに検討されました。その際には安部隆三教授とともに訪問する予定です。
　 免疫学講座では、今年の研究室配属で江口佳世子さん、吉良ひかるさんを受け入れていただいたDr. Watip Tangjittipokin先生、Dr. Yuttana Srinoulprasert先生を表敬訪問し、部門長のDr. Phornnop Naiyanetr先生も交えて教育・研究交流の継続を確認しました。今後、相互の研究活動を紹介するWebセミナーを開催する予定です。 また国際交流課を訪問し、次年度の学生交流について確認し、2026年2月に大分大学の臨床研修に参加する予定の学生さん（Patchanonくん、Patnarinさん）にお会いしました。今年、大分大学の研究室配属に参加した学生（Ornjira [Angie]さん、Natwadi [Neuf]さん）や臨床研修に参加した学生（Prarbくん）とも再会でき、交流の輪が着実に広がっていることを実感しました。
Mahidol University
At Mahidol University, we visited several campuses and departments.

  • Faculty of Science, Department of Pathobiology
    I delivered a research seminar, presenting recent findings and engaging in active discussion with researchers including Dr. Yaowarin Nakornpakdee and Dr. Niwat Kangwanrangsan. Professor Uchida also gave an introduction to the MEXT Scholarship for students, who showed strong interest and asked many questions. We sincerely hope that excellent students will come to pursue graduate studies at Oita University.
  • CNMI (Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute)
    We met again with Dr. Pornpun Vivithanaporn, with whom we had engaged last year, and discussed the current situation and future directions of collaboration. Tipanan Khunsri, who is scheduled to enroll in our doctoral program in October, also joined us, and we exchanged views on future prospects.
  • Siriraj Hospital, ER
    At the Department of Emergency Medicine, introduced by Dr. Wansiri Chaisirin, we held discussions on international collaboration with Division Chief Dr. Nattakarn Praphruetkit and Dr. Wasin Pansiritanachot. Ms. Yuri Shiina, a medical student from Oita University, hopes to study at this department next year, and arrangements are being made for her to be accepted in January. Professor Ryuzo Abe is also planning to visit Siriraj Hospital together with her at that time.
  • Siriraj Hospital, Immunology
    At the Department of Immunology, we visited Dr. Watip Tangjittipokin and Dr. Yuttana Srinoulprasert, who kindly accepted our students Ms. Kayoko Eguchi and Ms. Hikaru Kira this year as part of their laboratory assignments. Together with Division Chief Dr. Phornnop Naiyanetr, we confirmed the continuation of our educational and research exchange. Plans are underway to organize a joint online seminar to share research activities.
  • Siriraj Hospital, DIR
    We also visited the Division of International Relations to discuss student exchange programs for the coming year. It was a pleasure to reunite with students who had participated in our laboratory assignments (Ornjira [Angie], Natwadi [Neuf]) as well as those who had taken part in our clinical training (Prarb). We were able to truly feel the steady expansion of our exchange network.

マハーサーラカーム大学（MSU）
　学長のDr. Prayook Srivilaiにお会いし、これまでの大分大学とMSUの交流実績について報告しました。また、獣医学部のDr. Sukanya Leethongdee学部長、Dr. Benjawan Saechue [Fai]さん、Dr. Thanyakorn Chalalai [Eve]さん、Dr. Piyarat Srinontong [Tangmo]さんと再会し、懐かしい交流を振り返りました。 獣医学部ではミニセミナーを実施し、教職員・学生と研究成果を共有しました。研究施設の見学を通じて今後の研究・教育連携の可能性を具体的に描くことができました。ここでも本学の研究室配属に参加した学生（Tanadon [Bill]くん、Chayada [Kwandao]さん、Nutrada [Import]さん、Kanさん、Poteくん）と再会し、学生を通じた交流の広がりを再認識しました。 その後コンケンに移動し、温かいおもてなしを受けながら深い議論を交わしました。コンケン大学国際交流学部学部長のDr. Sirimonbhorn Celine Thipsingh先生にもお会いすることができ、心より感謝申し上げます。

Mahasarakham University（MSU）
　We had the honor of meeting President Dr. Prayook Srivilai and reported on the achievements of the ongoing collaboration between Oita University and MSU. We also reunited with old friends from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, including Dean Dr. Sukanya Leethongdee, Dr. Benjawan Saechue [Fai], Dr. Thanyakorn Chalalai [Eve], and Dr. Piyarat Srinontong [Tangmo]. At the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, we conducted a mini-seminar to share recent research achievements with faculty and students. By touring the research facilities, we were able to concretely envision future collaboration in both research and education. Once again, we were delighted to reunite with students who had participated in Oita University’s research training program (Tanadon [Bill], Chayada [Kwandao], Nutrada [Import], Kan, Pote), reaffirming how our exchange has steadily expanded among students as well. Later, we traveled to Khon Kaen, where we received warm hospitality and engaged in fruitful discussions. We were also honored to meet Dr. Sirimonbhorn Celine Thipsingh, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, Khon Kaen University, to whom we extend our heartfelt gratitude.


チュラローンコーン大学（Chula）
　理学部微生物学講座（Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science）でセミナーを行い、研究者の皆様と活発な議論を交わしました。内田先生からは学生に向けてMEXT奨学金の紹介があり、多くの関心が寄せられました。 Tanapat Palaga教授、Nattiya Hirankarn教授、Sita Virakul先生とはダブルディグリープログラムについて協議し、大学院生交流の新たな可能性を確認しました。また、Palaga教授、Kanok Preativatanyou先生らとは二国間共同研究の計画について議論し、研究面での新しい展開が期待されます。 ここでも本学の研究室配属に参加した学生（Chaivis [Bird]くん、Salinthip [Phat]さん）と再会し、学生を通じた交流の成果を実感しました。 また、大分大学大学院で学位を取得して阪大、弘前大で研究を続け、今年から母校のChulalongkorn大学に戻ってきたDr.Phawinee Subsomwongにも久しぶりの再会を果たしました。

Chulalongkorn University（Chula）
　At the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, we delivered a seminar and engaged in active discussions with the researchers. Professor Uchida introduced the MEXT Scholarship, which drew significant interest and many questions from students.
We held discussions with Professor Tanapat Palaga, Professor Nattiya Hirankarn, and Dr. Sita Virakul regarding a potential double-degree program, reaching a shared understanding about new opportunities for graduate student exchange. In addition, we discussed plans for bilateral joint research with Professor Palaga and Dr. Kanok Preativatanyou, raising expectations for further research collaboration.
We also reunited with students who had participated in Oita University’s laboratory assignment program (Chaivis [Bird], Salinthip [Phat]) and once again felt the tangible impact of our student-centered exchanges. In addition, we were delighted to reconnect with Dr. Phawinee Subsomwong, who obtained her Ph.D. degree at Oita University, continued her research at Osaka University and Hirosaki University, and has now returned this year to her alma mater, Chulalongkorn University.


最終日
　8月26日の最終日には、Siriraj Hospitalの学生Angie、Neuf、Mikeyと夕食をともにし、楽しいひとときを過ごしました。将来について語り合った後、学生たちは深夜便に乗る私たちを空港まで見送ってくれました。さらに、空港ではBirdくんとPhatさんが出迎えてくれており、その温かい気持ちに心から感動しました。
Final Day
　On the final day, August 26, I had dinner with students from Siriraj Hospital, Angie, Neuf and Mikey, enjoying warm conversation and reflections on the future. Afterward, they kindly accompanied me to the airport for my late-night flight. To my great surprise, Bird and Phat were also waiting at the airport to see me off. I was deeply touched by their heartfelt kindness.
