Introduction of clinical department

We mainly treat breast cancer and also benign breast disease in the Department of Breast Surgery. Considering breast cancer, we perform diagnoses, provide surgical treatment in addition to chemoradiotherapy. More than half of breast cancer surgeries are performed with breast-conserving therapy, and the sentinel node biopsy is routinely used in most breast cancer surgeries to reduce the burden on patients. We are actively introducing mastectomies and simultaneous reconstruction in cooperation with the plastic surgeon to overcome cosmetic problems, such as postoperative breast deformity. The role of medical therapy in the treatment of breast cancer is significant and we provide the most suitable tailor-made treatment by selecting the best option for the patient among many options, including endocrine therapy, chemotherapy, and molecular targeted therapy. In cases of patients with recurrent or advanced breast cancer, we collaborate with radiotherapists and the palliative medical team to develop a treatment plan that improves prognosis and preserves the patient’s QoL.
