Introduction of clinical department

The Department of Renal Surgery and Urology provides a wide range of advanced treatments covering genitourinary cancers (e.g., kidney, pelvic/ureter, urinary bladder, prostate, testis, penile), endocrine disorders (e.g., adrenal tumors and hyperparathyroidism), urinary tract infections, lower urinary tract disorders, such as benign prostate hyperplasia and overactive bladder, pediatric urology (e.g., undescended testis, vesicoureteral reflex, hypospadias), female urology (e.g., pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence). We provide comprehensive medical care including diagnosis, drug therapy, and surgical treatment. The department is also offering blood purification therapy, including hemodialysis and plasma exchange, and living-donor and cadaveric renal transplantation as the only transplantation facility in Oita Prefecture.

Our primary policy is to provide the latest safe and minimally invasive medical care.

Advanced treatments/ Specialized treatments

We perform the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery for patients in Oita Prefecture. Robotic surgery has already been adapted to prostate, kidney, and urinary bladder cancers. We are also leading in reduced- or single-port laparoscopic surgeries in Japan, which can reduce invasiveness and provide better cosmesis to our patients.

Specialized outpatient clinic

  • Renal transplantation.
  • Pediatric urology.
